The 54th ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS™, Country Music’s Party of the Year®, will broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV, on Sunday, April 7, 2019 (live 8:00-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.

The following confirms the terms under which dick clark productions, llc and the Academy of Country Music (“we,” “us,” “our”) are issuing press credentials and providing media access to the undersigned media outlet and/or company (“you,” “your,” “yours”) in connection with the 54th Academy of Country Music Awards (the “Program”).

You understand and agree that you are being issued press credentials solely for the limited purpose of preparing and producing legitimate news segments, entertainment information programming, talk show programming, articles, and/or material only for exhibition, broadcast, or publication by you (“Media Coverage”), including those websites directly associated with you and/or your Media Coverage, subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement. For the avoidance of doubt, this Agreement applies to Media Coverage in any and all media, platforms, channels, and/or outlets, including, without limitation, traditional print, domestic and international broadcasts, online news, and social media sites.

You may not, under any circumstances or in any format or media, produce, televise, broadcast, or exhibit any kind of ancillary production related or dedicated to the Program (e.g., pre-show, arrivals program, red carpet special, behind-the-scenes look, fashion commentary, etc.) without our prior approval AND a separate executed license agreement. Furthermore, you may not create, curate, and/or monetize so-called “stories” themed to the Program on any social media or other digital platform.


You will be assigned a position on the red carpet outside the entrance to the venue from which you may conduct interviews and cover the arrivals of nominees, performers, presenters, and other celebrities attending the Program (“Red Carpet Content”) between 1:30 p.m. PT and 5:00 p.m. PT on the day of the Program (“Red Carpet Period”), subject to the following restrictions:

  • Live Television Segments: You may only record, film, televise, broadcast, and/or exhibit short "live cutaways" of Red Carpet Content from your assigned position during the Red Carpet Period solely in and in the context of a legitimate cable or broadcast television news program (“Live TV Segments”). Live TV Segments may not exceed thirty seconds (:30) in length, and you may not use more than three minutes (3:00) of Live TV Segments, in the aggregate, in your Media Coverage.

  • Live Streaming Segments: You may only live stream up to three (3) minutes of Red Carpet Content at a time and no more than five (5) times during each hour of the Red Carpet Period (i.e., a total of 15 minutes across all platforms in the aggregate per hour) solely as part of your Media Coverage of the Program (“Live Stream Segments”). Each Live Stream Segment must incorporate at least one (1) visual or verbal tune-in promotion for the broadcast of the Program on CBS.

  • Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the only Red Carpet Content that may be used in Live TV Segments and Live Stream Segments are: (i) interviews from your assigned red carpet area and/or your hosts’, reporters’, or experts’ stand-ups or analysis; (ii) footage of talent posing for fashion video cameras and/or still photographers in front of the photo bleachers; and (iii) footage from pre-authorized “pool” cameras. Any and all other Red Carpet Content (e.g., miscellaneous footage and/or audio recordings of guests) may not be used in any Live TV Segments and/or Live Stream Segments.

  • Use of unmanned, drone, 360°, augmented reality, and/or virtual reality cameras or other recording devices is expressly prohibited without our prior approval AND a separate executed license agreement.


  1. All footage, clips, or excerpts from the Program (“Program Excerpts”) may be used on a non-exclusive basis, subject to the restrictions set forth below, and may only be used in the segment of your Media Coverage related to the Program and for no other purpose whatsoever, without the prior written consent of dick clark productions.

  2. You may use up to two minutes (2:00) of Program Excerpts, in the aggregate, in your Media Coverage, subject to the following restrictions:

    1. Program Excerpts which include musical performances (“Performance Excerpts”) cannot exceed ten seconds (:10) in length, and you may not use more than a total of thirty seconds (:30) of Performance Excerpts in the aggregate in your Media Coverage.

    2. All other Program Excerpts must be less than thirty seconds (:30) in length.

    3. You may only use up to a total of three (3) Program Excerpts in your online Media Coverage, including, without limitation, on your website, social media accounts, or any other online or digital platform. Notwithstanding the foregoing, you may link, repost, retweet, or otherwise share Program Excerpts that we publish on the official website for the Program ( and/or any of the official social media accounts for the Program at any time.

    4. You may not use any Program Excerpts to create any so-called GIFs. We will make a reasonable selection of GIFs from key moments of the Program available for your use in your Media Coverage during and after the broadcast of the Program.


    1. In the case of local stations, Program Excerpts are embargoed from being broadcast until the Program has completed its broadcast in your market. Additionally, Program Excerpts may not be posted online until the Program has completed its broadcast in the Pacific Time Zone.

    2. In the case of national, international, and cable broadcasters as well as online news and entertainment press, Program Excerpts are embargoed until the Program has completed its broadcast in the Pacific Time Zone.

  2. Performance Excerpts may be used, on a non-exclusive basis, for a period of two (2) days following the broadcast of the Program, and all other Program Excerpts may be used for up to seven (7) days following the broadcast of the Program and in either case, for Media Coverage purposes only. After that time, you must get written permission from dick clark productions for any use.

  3. The CBS logo EYE as it appears on the CBS broadcast of the Program may not be removed or obscured in any Program Excerpts that you use.

  4. If you use any Program Excerpt, you must provide a courtesy chyron as follows: Courtesy: CBS/Academy of Country Music/dick clark productions.

  5. You are solely responsible for (i) obtaining and/or paying for any third-party permissions, clearances, or licenses required for your use of any Program Excerpts; and (ii) ensuring that your use of any Program Excerpts complies with any and all regulatory and/or broadcast standard(s) applicable to your Media Coverage and does not violate any applicable law, regulation, and/or collective bargaining agreement. We make no representations or warranties regarding your use of the Program Excerpts or any third-party clearances which may be required in connection therewith.

NO ASSIGNMENT: You may not assign or transfer the rights or licenses granted hereunder, including the right to use the Program Excerpts as set forth above, to any other party, including, without limitation, any parent, affiliate, or related stations, outlets, programs, and/or publications, any third-party media outlets or entities, and/or as part of a news or media feed made available to third-party subscribers, without our prior written approval and execution of a written agreement.


If your photographer is not affiliated with a photo agency, you hereby agree, guarantee, and affirm that the photos taken are exclusive to your organization and are for news purposes only and NOT for further distribution or resale.

Only one (1) photographer per photo agency will be credentialed. When a photographer is credentialed on behalf of your outlet (as staff or on special assignment), you, as the requesting and assigning outlet, hereby agree and guarantee that the assigned photographer’s work will only be used by you for your Media Coverage and not be given to any agency with which the credentialed photographer might be associated. You must still provide us with the credentialed photographer’s affiliation, if applicable. If there are any violations of this policy, the photographer involved, as well as the assigning outlet and photo agency, will not be permitted to attend future ACM Awards shows.


You acknowledge that we are the sole owners of all copyrights and exclusive rights in and to the Program and all Program Excerpts.

We reserve the right to revoke or rescind any rights or permissions granted to you herein at any time, provided that any authorized activities (including use of Program Excerpts) that occur prior to such rescission shall remain authorized.

This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of California, and any action at law or in equity arising out of or relating to this Agreement shall be filed only in the state or federal courts located in the County of Los Angeles. You consent and submit to the personal jurisdiction of such courts for the purposes of litigating any such action.

By accepting your press credentials for the Program, you are agreeing to abide by all of the foregoing terms and conditions of this Media Coverage Agreement.
